If there is one thing I have become a recent expert at, it is wedding planning. I am happy to say that in one month I will be a MRS but everyday before it has been a struggle to keep on task and organized. Here are some tips I wish I had before starting the process:
1. Make a Master List
I tend to get VERY overwhelmed and hold in my anxiety when I feel stressed. Getting everything out on a list is actually liberating in a way. I always have a big list to look back at and I ALWAYS cross things out once I have them done. Crossing things off gives me a sense of success/closure to move on to the next thing.
2. Don't be Afraid to Ask for Help!
I am the last person to rely on anyone for help. One thing I have noticed during this process is that no one has ever said no to helping me when they know I need it. Your friends are there to help so don't be afraid to ask!
3. Get a Binder Together
I have a tab in my binder for every vendor we are using. It makes it easier than searching through emails. If you are getting ready at a venue that has everything in one package, PRAISE JESUS! I am having to keep all of my vendors together since everything is on separate contracts.
4. Keep Up With Your Thank You Notes
This one is more of a side note but it is amazing not to be behind on my Thank You notes and I have made a serious effort to stay on top of it. The way I do it is, I don't open the gift unless I am ready to write the note. Naturally, you don't want a bunch of boxes taking up space so I open mine as they come in!
5. Once the Venue is Booked, Everything Else Falls Into Place
This is SO TRUE! The hardest decision you will make is finalizing your venue. Once you have your venue booked everything else just falls in order.
6. Remember This Is About You and Your Man!
I have to keep reminding myself that as long as I get down the aisle, that is all that matters. The wedding will be fine if you forget to order koozies. It is your day and you should enjoy it!
