This past weekend, we celebrated my best friend's birthday in Wimberley, Texas. I had never been to a winery in Texas before so I was really excited to try a new experience! Eight of us stayed in the neatest Air BNB that was actually a renovated church. It backed up to a creek and we ended up going for a dip on Saturday after the wineries which was unexpected and so much fun! You can find our Air BNB here.
On Saturday morning we all woke up, cooked breakfast, and headed out on our winery tour hosted by Ashley of Vin De Vie Tours. She did an amazing job giving us a history of the area and the surrounding wineries. Here is a breakdown of the wineries we visited:
This winery is actually in Driftwood (not Wimberley) but it was just a 20 minute drive from our bnb which wasn't bad. Driftwood embodies everything about the Texas Wine Country. You can taste any six wines on their wine list for $15 which is a great price and if you go, I would definitely recommend trying the Sangiovese. I took home a bottle for my husband and he loved it! Driftwood sits on the side of a hill that overlooks the vines so it is a great spot for photos! Fun fact: we saw TWO proposals happening while we were there!
Our second stop was Wimberley Valley Winery. This place definitely has the most spots for photos. They have a cool old car, ponies, and a fun spot for kids to play! For $12 you can try any 5 wines from their list and they have both imported and local wines. Their Pinot Noir was my favorite! If you go, try to get Brian as your guide. He was so sweet and knowledgeable about the wines.
Fall Creek was our last stop and it was a very beautiful place. It sits on 400 acres on the northwest corner of Lake Buchanan about 80 miles from Austin. It was build in 1975 and has been awarded many times for their modern wines. They have a pool and a fire pit and it just feels like home there. They have a set tasting of around 5-6 wines for $16 but all of the wines were very good. I personally loved the Rose!
